The "book snob" part is pretty accurate--I do have a predilection for literary award-winning books. But "dedicated reader" and "obsessive-compulsive bookworm"? Are those terms really applicable to someone who has only managed to write one book review in three months and whose "Currently Reading" queue hasn't budged at all in the same period?
The strange thing is that I really like reading, but can't generate enough activation energy on a daily, or even weekly, basis to pick up a book and read. There always seems to be something else I should do instead, and it isn't necessarily work. I manage to make time for my other hobbies--playing the piano, cooking, watching football, blogging, etc.--but somehow reading always falls off the end of my list of priorities.
It might be because all my other hobbies have built-in incentives. I play the piano not only because I enjoy it, but also because I don't want to embarrass myself at my lessons. I cook because I don't want to eat out or have junk food all the time. Watching football is something March Hare and I like doing together and is important for keeping track of my performance in the lab football pool. And as for blogging, the various carnival deadlines and a desire to retain my audience keeps me writing on a fairly regular basis. In addition, blogging is something I can do piecemeal and while hanging out with March Hare and watching TV. Reading, on the other hand, requires peace and quiet and a large enough chunk of time for me to get engrossed.
So what I really need is some motivation to make time for reading, and I've periodically thought about starting a book club. The good thing is that I know several people at Wonderland U. who would be interested. The bad thing is that it would be one more time commitment when I'm already spread pretty thin. I've seen online book clubs which have the advantage of not requiring all members to be in the same place at the same time to discuss a book. That's not a bad idea at all.

Ha! I got almost exactly the same mix. There was no question about re-reading books though - I have some books I must have read at least 5 times.
Yeah, I re-read books too, but it always feels to me like cheating....
